10 money saving tips you can use on a daily basis

Saving money on a daily basis can be a challenge, especially if your monthly paycheck is only covering your most urgent needs from month to month and never really allows you to go on a shopping-spree or do anything out of the ordinary. That's why I want to share with you my top 10 Money Saving Tips that you can use on a daily basis to reduce your expenses and get more out of your money. Here they come:

  1. Try other (cheaper) brands when you buy groceries, cleaning products, make-up, etc. You might be surprised by the quality and the money you can save on this!
  2. Plan your shopping! Example: Don’t buy food when you’re hungry, and don’t go shopping for clothes without knowing what you’re looking for.  This can prevent unhealthy eating, impulse shopping for things you’ll never use, etc. Take advantage of food campaigns / bulk prices / special discounts / bargains...
  3. If you’re an impulse shopper, ask yourself «Do I really need this?» when you’re tempted to buy something. Even if you don’t often buy things on impulse, it might be useful to ask yourself that question when you’re out shopping. It can save you money and also prevent hoarding / clutter in your home.
  4. Always bring your own, healthy lunch to work instead of buying junk food or expensive food from the cantine. Prepare it the night before and avoid stress in the morning. You will become healthier if you do this, maybe even lose weight, if that’s an issue, and you’ll save money. Win-win situation!
  5. Prepare healthy and tasteful meals days (or even weeks) ahead (dinner..). Make them into portions and put them in the freezer or fridge for later.
  6. Bake your own bread, make your own jam, pizzas, cakes, etc.…. It’s cheaper, healthier, fun, and very fulfilling! You can do this! If you don’t enjoy doing it on your own, do it together with a friend, your children or whomever you prefer. It can become the best activity of the week!
  7. Buy LED light bulbs and other long-lasting products.
  8. Buy Christmas-presents, birthday-presents etc. in January, or on Black Friday, etc. – in short: Buy them in periods when everything’s on sale.
  9. Cancel subscriptions you don’t need or use (newspapers / magazines you never read anyway, memberships online where you never check in...).
   10.  Stop smoking and save money AND your health!
